Anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, or naproxen work well for dental pain as they reduce inflammation. You can take 600 mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours for several days. Do not exceed 3200 mg per day. If you experience swelling, nausea, fever, or pus pockets, seek care at an ER or Urgent Care facility.
